Great room with motorized shades over floor-to-ceiling windows and a lake and evergreen view

Motorized Shades & Blinds

Shades that move when you want them to.

Sun, privacy, and movie night

It's 4 p.m. and the west windows start to cook the living room. The shades lower on their own. At night, the bedroom goes truly dark. When the street gets busy, you get privacy without heavy drapes. No cords, no climbing on furniture, no remote for every window.

The experience we build

  • The afternoon sun, handled.

When the west windows start to heat up the room, the shades lower on their own. You never have to get up.

  • Floors, art, and furniture that stay beautiful.

Shades close when the sun hits, blocking much of the light and heat that fades wood floors, rugs, and art. You keep the view when you're home and protect the room when you're not.

  • Bedrooms that go truly dark.

Blackout fabrics make bedrooms and theaters dark for sleeping in and for movie night.

  • Comfort that reaches the patio.

Exterior shades tame the sun and glare on decks and patios, so outdoor spaces stay comfortable on the brightest afternoons.

  • Privacy at the touch of a button.

Shades close at sunset or whenever the street gets busy, with no heavy drapes required.

  • Quiet, and perfectly in line.

Shades run very quietly and move together in sync, lining up evenly across a whole wall of windows.

  • Fabrics chosen in your own light.

We bring samples to your home, so you see colors and textures in your own rooms. Choose sheer, light-filtering, or blackout, in roller shades, cellular shades, wood blinds, or draperies.

  • Fitted to the inch.

We measure every window ourselves, so each shade sits neatly in its frame, looks built in, and leaves no gap of light. A clean cover hides the roller.

  • No cords, no climbing, no remote for every window.

Use a keypad, your phone, your voice, or a schedule, and tie shades into your lighting scenes. Battery shades fit finished homes with no wall work and typically go 4 to 5 years between changes, or choose hardwired or network-powered shades and never think about batteries at all.

  • Sunny-window light, even in winter.

Add a backlit panel behind your motorized shades, and a windowless room or a dark winter morning gets the soft, natural-feeling glow of a sunny window, on a schedule you set.

Why we measure every window ourselves

Motorized shades are built to the inch. We measure every window ourselves, choose the fabric, the motor, and the top cover that hides the roller, and program them so a keypad is all you need. A shade that's a quarter-inch off shows a gap of light. That's why we measure ourselves.

Motorized Shades questions, answered

  • Can you add motorized shades to my current windows?

Yes. Battery-powered Lutron shades mount in your existing window frames, so there's no wall opening and no new wiring. If you're remodeling or building, we can run wires for hardwired shades, so there are no batteries to change. Either way, the shade sits neatly inside the window frame and looks built in.

  • How long do shade batteries last?

Lutron battery shades typically last about 4 to 5 years before needing new batteries, depending on the shade size, the fabric, and how often they move. The shade will slow down or the app will tell you when it's time. Wired shades need no batteries at all.

  • Are motorized shades loud?

No. The shades we install are designed to run very quietly, so they won't wake anyone up or interrupt a movie. When several shades move together, they move in sync and line up evenly, which looks great across a wall of windows.

  • Can shades move on a schedule or with my lighting?

Yes. Shades can close when the afternoon sun hits, close at sunset for privacy, and open in the morning. They can also be part of a lighting scene, so the "Movie" or "Evening" button dims the lights and lowers the shades together.

  • What fabrics are available?

Three main types: sheer, light-filtering, and blackout. Sheer fabrics cut glare while keeping your view. Light-filtering fabrics soften the room. Blackout fabrics make bedrooms and theaters truly dark. Most homes mix them, like sheer in the living room and blackout in the bedrooms. We bring fabric samples to your home so you can see colors and textures in your own light.

  • Do you install motorized blinds too?

Yes. Many people search for "motorized blinds" when they mean shades, and we install both. We install motorized roller shades, cellular (honeycomb) shades, wood blinds, and draperies. We'll show you what fits each window and how much light and privacy you want.

  • Can shades protect my floors and furniture from sun fading?

Yes, that's one of the most common reasons people buy them. Sun through big windows fades wood floors, rugs, art, and furniture over time. Shades that close automatically when the sun hits block much of that light and heat, and they cut glare on TV screens too. You keep the view when you're home and protect the room when you're not.

  • Do you do motorized drapes too?

Yes. For large windows or a softer look, we install motorized drapery tracks and work with custom shade and drapery workrooms to get the right fabric and drapery. The drapes open and close from a keypad, an app, or a schedule, just like shades.

  • Can I control shades from my phone or voice?

Yes. You can raise and lower shades from the Lutron app, a wall keypad, a small remote, or your smart home system. With Control4 or Josh.ai, you can also use your voice, for example "Close the living room shades." We set up the control you'll actually use and show everyone in the house how it works.
