Wired or wireless cameras: which is better?
Wired cameras are the most reliable. One network cable powers each camera and carries its video, so there are no batteries to charge and no Wi-Fi dropouts. We use wireless cameras only where running cable isn't practical, like a far gate or outbuilding. We'll walk your property and recommend the right mix.
Where are my recordings stored, and is there a monthly fee?
We don't charge a monthly fee for camera systems. We install commercial-grade cameras from several leading brands. Video records to a recorder in your home, not to someone else's cloud, so you can watch it live or play it back from your phone with no recurring charge from us. Smart alerts can tell you when a person or vehicle shows up. Some cloud recording services can carry their own fee from that provider. We prefer systems with no recurring charge.
How long are recordings kept?
Most homes keep a few weeks of video, and more storage keeps more. The exact time depends on the number of cameras and the video quality. When the drives fill, the oldest video is replaced automatically, so you never have to manage it. If you want a longer history, we can add hard drives.
Can I watch my cameras from my phone?
Yes. You can see live video and scroll back through recordings from your phone, anywhere. Smart alerts can tell you when a person or vehicle shows up, so you're not buzzed every time a tree moves. We set up the app on your phone and show you how to find a clip fast.
How many cameras do I need?
Most homes start with the entries and the driveway, then add the backyard, a dock, or outbuildings. The number depends on your property, not a package. We walk the property in person and plan each view, so you get the coverage you need without paying for cameras you don't.
Will the cameras see clearly at night?
Yes. The cameras we install have night vision, and we place them to avoid glare from porch lights and headlights. Good placement matters as much as the camera. We set the height and angle so faces and vehicles are clear, not just shadows.
Can cameras work with my alarm system?
Yes. We install both, so your cameras and alarm can work together. You can see what's happening when an alarm goes off, and keep your security and cameras under one company. If you already have an alarm, we'll check how cameras can tie in.
Do you install cameras for businesses?
Yes. We install commercial-grade camera systems from several leading brands, with recorders, for offices, restaurants, bars, places of worship, and warehouses. We plan views for entries, registers, parking, and storage, and set up access for owners and managers. Recordings stay on site, and you can check the store or office from your phone after hours.
